Background

Standardized approaches for regulation, assessment and remediation UST releases have been developed.

The longevity of programs created to investigate and remediate UST releases, and the volume of past and current UST releases have resulted in a mature environmental industry and experienced stakeholders. The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and state agencies have developed standardized approaches for regulating active and leaking USTs. Private sector standard-setting organizations have developed standardized approaches to assess and remediate UST releases.
