New Field Accreditation Standard Being Developed
July 1, 2005
The Institute for National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation (INELA), a consensus standards development organization, is currently in the process of developing an accreditation standard for organizations conducting environmental field sampling and on-site measurements. The Field Activities Committee, an expert committee of INELA, will begin a 2-year standards development cycle by introducing a Working Draft Standard (initial draft) version of this field accreditation standard at its semiannual summer meeting in Raleigh, NC on August 11, 2005.
Organizations that are conducting environmental field sampling and on-site measurements, and stakeholders (or other interested parties) are invited to participate in the August 11th INELA Field Activities workshop. Workshop participants will work with the committee, in an open forum, to review and critique the draft field accreditation standard. As stakeholders, you are also invited to join INELA and pursue formal member status in the Field Activities Committee. Committee membership provides the opportunity to be at the forefront of constructing this field accreditation standard.
The Field Activities Committee workshop on August 11th in Raleigh is part of a week-long conference event, sponsored by INELA and EPA. A special 1-day registration fee has been established for those individuals wishing to attend the 1-day workshop of the Field Activities Committee on August 11th. The meeting will be held at the Sheraton Capital Center Hotel close to world famous museums, universities and Research Triangle Park. Full conference details, on-line registration, and other important information regarding the conference may be found on the INELA web site at http://www.inela.org/Conferences/conferences.html.
